Airbus Urban Mobility GmbH
Airbus Urban Mobility GmbH was founded in 2019 to consolidate all Airbus activities for the emerging Urban Air Mobility sector. The company's objective is to provide both zero-emission aircraft for urban use and innovative mobility solutions for cities and municipalities in a timely and market-appropriate manner.
As a system integrator, Airbus Urban Mobility is responsible for developing an urban transport solution in the third dimension, consisting of 1. aircraft (eVTOL), 2. Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system, and 3. ground infrastructure (e.g., vertiports). In this context, systems in the areas of batteries, electric drives, flight guidance, and autonomy are developed both internally—with development services also commissioned to Airbus divisions Helicopters, Commercial Aircraft, and Defence and Space—as well as in cooperation with partners and suppliers. Once market-ready, Urban Air Mobility can complement ground-based mobility, particularly in use cases where time is a critical factor, such as air rescue or medical and organ transport. Airbus has an established market presence in over 130 countries.
Thanks to extensive experience with these systems, Airbus Urban Mobility possesses all the necessary expertise to successfully implement the project for the described use cases and offer a safe and socially accepted urban air transport system for cities and municipalities.
