How you can visualize xInvoices with SmartDocuments

With effect from 1 January 2025, a new regulation comes into force in Germany requiring companies to be able to receive and process digital invoices.
Digital invoices are structured, machine-readable documents exchanged in standardised formats. Unlike traditional paper invoices or simple PDF invoices, which can only be processed as images, digital invoices contain data in a machine-readable format that can be automatically processed by accounting and ERP systems. This not only saves ⏰ time and 💸 costs, but also reduces errors caused by manual data entry.
The EN 16931 standard sets the requirements for the invoice format. In Germany, these are covered by ZUGFeRD or XRechnung. While ZUGFeRD is readable by both humans 👯 and machines 💻, XRechnung is designed exclusively for machine processing. XRechnung has become established primarily in the public sector and is already mandatory there for invoice issuers. It is an XML-based format that contains all data in a structured form and can therefore be directly imported into accounting systems.
However, a major challenge remains for companies: the lack of 🤓 visualisation of XRechnungen for humans. 👉 This is where SmartDocuments comes in. Through flexible integration of XML data and easy template creation, SmartDocuments provides companies and organisations with an efficient solution for visually appealing presentation of invoices in the XRechnung format.
